Matholutions Activity

Activity Overview

Empower students to reflect and set their own goals for the math classroom. This great conversation starter will give the New Year positive start!

Use as a conversation starter with your students to reflect upon their desired goals, why they chose their goals and how they plan to achieve them. What additional prompts will you think of?

When done, consider displaying student goals around the room to give inspiration, encouragement and support accountability. The Matholutions Bulletin Board Décor is a companion piece to this activity.

Teacher Set-up:

Choose from a variety of calculator colors and models to print for your students. Print out your desired designs and give to your students to fill out. Full color and black and white options are available.

Consider having students trim out their goals to the dotted cut lines for a precise display!

Individual:

Let students think and work quietly on their own. Consider additional prompts you may give to spark self-reflection.

Group work:

Put students in small groups to discuss their goals. Let students discuss and suggest plans of action for each other’s goals. How could the group support accountability?

Share/Hang:

Consider how students could share their goals and action plans with the class.
